E-verification is mandatory to complete the ITR (Income Tax Return) filing process. Income Tax Department processes your return after you e-verify your ITR. So don’t forget to e-verify your return. You can e-verify your ITR within 120 days from the date of filing ITR by using the Aadhaar OTP option.

Steps for e-verification of ITR using Aadhaar OTP

  1. Visit the Income Tax e-Filing website

    Login to Income Tax e-Filing website and hence, click on My Account > E-Verify Returne-verify-return-option-e-verify

  2. Select the appropriate return

    Therefore, click on e-Verify corresponding to the Return you filed for the current yeare-verify-select return

  3. Choose the Aadhaar option

    Additionally, click on Option 3 – “I would like to use Aadhaar OTP to e-Verify return”Income tax e filing portal Aadhaar-OTP

  4. Enter the OTP

    Thus, you’ll receive 6 digit OTP on your Aadhaar registered mobile number. Finally, enter the same and click on submit. You will see a confirmation message along with a transaction ID.

There are five ways to e-verify ITR. If Aadhaar e-verification is not done successfully then you can also e-verify ITR using net banking option, bank account option, Demat account option, or bank ATM option.
