The Taxpayers can edit certain details in their Income Tax e-Filing Account. These details are such as the principle contact, address, and contact details. However, users can view the PAN details, Aadhaar details, and jurisdiction details. The users cannot edit such details.
Steps To Edit Profile Information
- Visit the Income Tax e-Filing portal
- Edit option
Click on the section whose details you wish to change. (Contact Details, Address Details & Principle Contact). Under each of those sections is an option to edit which is on the top right corner of the section. Click on the option to “Edit.”
- Save information
Enter the required details that you wish to edit under the respective fields. Finally, click on “Save.”
In case you have saved the changes made to the “Contact Details” section, an OTP is sent to the registered mobile number and E-mail ID. Both the OTP’s are sent to the primary contact number and E-mail address. Hence, enter both the OTP’s and click on “Confirm.”
You can reset your Income Tax e-Filing password in 4 ways:
1. By answering the secret questions
2. By uploading the digital signature certificate (DSC)
3. By using OTP
4. By using Aadhar OTP
The Income-tax e-filing portal retrieves data directly from the Permanent Account Number (PAN) database. Therefore, “Assessee name” and “Birthdate” cannot be changed on the Income Tax e-Filing portal.
