The e-Vault function increases the security of a user’s account. It narrows down the options for logging in to the account. Furthermore, it provides secure options to reset the password in case a user has forgotten their password. Thus, it increases security and avoids any possible misuse of the account.
Corporate accounts on the portal have different options as compared to the individual person account. There are two options available to secure the login process. The same options are applicable for resetting the password. These options are available for accounts registered under the corporate category.
The options available for a corporate account are as follows:
- Login using DSC
- Login using NetBanking

Login Using Net-Banking
After logging in to the portal and navigating to the e-Filing Vault-Higher Security, you enter the following page.
After you choose the “Login through Net-Banking” option, you will always login to your account via Net-Banking along with the e-Filing User ID and password. The below steps explain the completion of the procedure in order to improve security:
- Log in to the Income Tax e-Filing Account
Firstly, click on the “Login through Net-Banking” option as highlighted in the above picture. A confirmation message will be shown. Click “Ok.”
- Confirmation page
Secondly, you will be redirected to a confirmation page. Click on the “Confirm” option.
- Success message
Finally, you will receive a success message on the screen.
Therefore, the next time you log in to your account, you will be re-directed to the “e-Filing Login through Net-Banking” page. Here, you will have to select your bank name.
After completing the above process, you can click on “Login to the IT e-Filing Account.” Hence, you will move to the dashboard of the e-Filing portal.
Login Using DSC
The user can also choose to log in using their DSC. Additionally, they will log in to their account along with their User ID and Password. The steps to opt for this security are as follows:
- Step 1: Log in to the Income Tax e-Filing portal using valid credentials.
- Step 2: Secondly, navigate to Profile Settings > e-Filing Vault – Higher Security
- Step 3: A confirmation message will appear on the screen. Click “Ok.”
- Step 4: You will be directed to the confirmation page. Click on “Confirm.”
After clicking on the “Confirm” option, you will receive a success message on your screen.
Therefore, the next time a user logs in to the portal, they will be re-directed to the Secured Login Option Page. Here, the user needs to select the New or Registered DSC and upload the signature file generated using DSC Management utility. Finally, click on “Submit.”
Hence, after completing the above process, the user will be redirected to the dashboard of the e-Filing platform.
Deactivating e-Vault High Security Login option for Income Tax e-Filing accounts
In The Case of Net-Banking
The user can deactivate the secure login function at any time. Additionally, the user has to log in to the e-Filing platform page. Next, navigate to the Profile Settings > e-Filing Vault – Higher Security. Additionally, unselect the “Login through Net-Banking” option. Finally, click on “Proceed.”
The user moves to a confirmation page. Hence, they have to click on the “Disable” button.
Thus, a success message appears on the screen.
In The Case of DSC
The user has to follow the same procedure as above to disable the DSC based Login option. Once the user is at the “e-Filing Vault – Higher Security” page, they have to unselect the “Login Using DSC” option.
Hence, the user moves to the confirmation page. Hence, they have to click on the “Disable” option.
Therefore, a success message is displayed on the screen after the process is complete.
The e-Filing Vault is a double authentication feature on the Income Tax Website. It is a more secure method to log in, usually used by Corporates. The option of Login and Locking password are restricted to curb any security infringement.
Depending on how you choose to secure your account, there are some pre-requisites for activating the e-Filing vault. If it is your first time after selecting the e-Filing Vault Security method, you will be redirected to the ‘e-Filing through Net Banking page‘. Select your bank and login to your net banking account. Click on ‘Login to the IT e-Filing Account‘. After doing that you will be redirected to the e-Filing dashboard.
If you wish to disable the dual-factor Authentication feature, follow these steps:
1. Login in your e-portal account
2. Under ‘Profile Settings‘ tab, click on ‘e-Filing Vault – Higher Security‘
3. Cancel the security method you had chosen previously
4. Click ‘Proceed‘ and ‘Disable‘
