Aadhar Paperless Offline e-KYC is secure and shareable document used for offline verification of identification. Any Aadhar number holder can download the digitally signed XML downloaded from UIDAI website.
The process for downloading Aadhaar Offline e-KYC is as follows:
- Navigate to Unique Identification Authority of India.
Go to https://resident.uidai.gov.in/offline-kyc to download Aadhar Paperless Offline e-KYC.
- Enter ‘Aadhaar Number’ or ‘VID’.
Enter your 16 digit Aadhar Number or 16 digit VID Number.
- Fill the ‘Security Code’.
Fill in the ‘Security Code’ and click on ‘Send OTP’ or ‘Enter TOTP’.
- Enter the Password.
The OTP will be sent to the registered Mobile Number for the given Aadhaar number or VID. TOTP will be available on m-Aadhaar mobile Application of UIDAI. Enter the OTP received/TOTP.
- Download the XML.
Enter a Share Code which will be the password for the ZIP file and click on ‘Download’ button. The Zip file containing the digitally signed XML will be downloaded.

VID Number stands for Virtual ID number. It is a random, temporary, revocable 16 digit number linked to your Aadhar Number. It is used for authentication purposes.
The OTP is sent to the user’s registered mobile number. The registered mobile number is the one that is linked to your Aadhar.
TOTP is a time based one time password. These are generated in mobile application mAdhaar and are used for authentication.

UDAI is government’s official website for all aadhaar related assistance. It is definitely reliable and you can quickly download your xml file from there.
