The e-Way Bill Portal doesn’t specify anything in particular regarding the generation of the password. Whether it should be alphabetical or numeric or alpha-numeric, or if special characters are required. However, it is important to keep changing your password from time-to-time for greater security.

Steps to Change Password of the e-Way Bill Account

  1. Visit the EWB portal

    Visit the e-Way Bill Portal (EWB) and Log into your account. Navigate to the dashboard and click on the “Change Password” option from the “User Management” drop-down list.e-Way Bill Portal - Dashboard

  2. Enter the required details

    Hence, the system asks you to enter your mobile number and validate the same via OTP. Once that is done, we move to the “Change Password” page.

  3. Enter the password

    Therefore, enter the existing password and the new password in the respective fields. After re-entering the new password, click on the “Submit” option.e-Way Bill Portal - Change Password Page

Once the above steps are complete, the system will update the password in the e-Way Bill Portal.

What if I don’t remember my password or username ID?

If you have forgotten the username or password, then use the “Forgot Username” or “Forgot Password” facility provided on the portal to recollect your username or create a new password accordingly. The user needs to enter some details after authenticating the same via an OTP, then, the user will be provided with the username and password.

“Invalid login… Please check your username and password.” What do should I do?

This is indicating that you are trying to login to the e-Way Bill system with an incorrect username and password. Please check the username and password being used to login to the system. If you have forgotten the username or password, then please use the “Forgot Trans ID” or “Forgot Password” facility provided on the portal to recollect your username or create a new password accordingly.

“Your account has been frozen.” How should I resolve this issue?

This is indicating that your account has been frozen because you might have canceled your registration or your GSTIN has been de-activated by the GST Common Portal for whatever the reasons. Please visit the GST Common Portal to understand the reason for the same.

    Yes. All the registered persons under GST must register on the portal of e-way bill using their GSTIN. Once GSTIN is entered, the system sends an OTP to the registered mobile number, registered with GST Portal and after authenticating the same, the system enables you to generate your username and password for the e-way bill system.

    After the generation of the username and password of your choice, you may proceed to make entries to generate an e-way bill.

    The validity period of the e-Way Bill is calculated on the basis of ‘approx. distance’ entered while generating the e-Way Bill. For every 100 KM, one day is a validity period for the e-Way Bill as per rule and for part of 100 KM, one more day is added. For example, If approx. distance is 410KMs then the validity period is 4+1 days.
