How to check status of GST Registration or Track ARN on GST Portal ?
After a business makes an application for GST registration the system sends an ARN i.e. Application Reference Number to the registered email. It usually takes about 15 days for the GST officer to process the application. Using this ARN the business can track its application for GST Registration.
GST Registration means allotment of a GST number or GSTIN to the taxpayer. This GST registered taxpayer is now liable to collect and pay tax to the government after claiming the GST credit of input tax paid on purchases. To check the application status using ARN, use the below tool.
Steps to track GST Registration Status or check ARN Status
Step-1. Go to the GST Portal
Step-2. Go to Services > Registration > Track Application Status
Step-3. Enter the ARN i.e. Application Reference Number. ARN is a 15 digit number sent on applicant’s email when the application is submitted.
Step-4. You can view the details of the application along with its status.
Step-5. The status of the application can be of the following types:
|Pending for Processing||The application for registration has been successfully submitted. It will be processed by the tax officer.|
|Pending for Clarification||The officer has examined the application but requires further clarification, additional information or documents.|
|Pending for Order||The application has been resubmitted by the taxpayer after the tax official has seeked clarification.|
|Approved||The application has been approved by the tax officer and GSTIN would be issued to the taxpayer.|
|Rejected||If the application has been rejected by the tax officer for a valid reason like response not received within specified time etc.|
If your application for GST Registration is ‘Approved’, you can login to your account on GST Portal using the credentials shared with you on your registered email. Refer to the article below for steps to login to the GST Portal for the first time.
1. How many days does it take for approval of GST Registration and issue of GSTIN?
Once you apply for a GST Registration, you can expect to receive an email from the GST Department within 7 working days. If the application is successfully processed, you will receive an email with GSTIN and login credentials of GST Portal. However, if the GST officer needs clarification, you need to provide clarification and attach supporting documents.
2. I have lost my ARN (Application Reference Number). How can I track the status of my application without ARN?
If you have not received ARN within 15 minutes of submitting an application or if you have lost the email with ARN, you can still track the status of the application.
- When you successfully submit Part A of your application for GST Registration, you will receive a TRN (Temporary Reference Number) on registered mobile and email
- Go to Services > Registration > Track Application Status on the GST Portal, you can search the status of application using TRN
